As global FDI patterns adjust to geopolitical uncertainty, US companies are re-evaluating how they approach expansion into Europe. Regulatory requirements, compliance expectations and evolving AI and data governance regimes are becoming more complex, particularly for technology-driven and early-stage businesses. These factors are influencing not just where companies invest, but how they structure their long-term European presence.

Across the EU, governments are responding to shifting investment patterns and evolving regulatory expectations as companies reassess their European presence. Factors such as regulatory alignment, tax frameworks and talent mobility are shaping location decisions. Recent policy developments in Cyprus, including changes to research funding, immigration pathways for skilled workers and the implementation of EU-aligned FDI screening mechanisms, illustrate how these considerations are being addressed in practice.

Hosted by FT Locations in partnership with Invest Cyprus, this discussion will take place under the Chatham House Rule. Chaired by Danielle Myles, Senior Editor at fDi Intelligence, it will convene founders and investors to examine the role Cyprus could play in investment and expansion strategies targeting the European market.
